Purpose The Assistant Grocery Manager assists in directing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Grocery, Dairy, and Frozen departments. This position helps ensure outstanding customer service, proper merchandising, inventory management, associate development, food safety compliance, and achievement of sales and profit goals. The Assistant Grocery Manager serves as a leader within the store and may assume management responsibilities in the absence of store leadership.

Customer Service & Department Leadership Provide exceptional customer service and ensure all associates deliver a positive shopping experience. Address customer concerns promptly and professionally. Promote a customer-first culture throughout the department. Lead by example in service, productivity, safety, and professionalism. Assist in supervising and developing Grocery, Dairy, and Frozen associates. Operations & Merchandising Oversee daily operations of the Grocery, Dairy, and Frozen departments. Ensure shelves, end caps, displays, and promotional features are properly stocked, merchandised, and maintained. Monitor product rotation, code dates, and inventory levels to minimize shrink and maximize sales. Execute merchandising plans, planograms, and seasonal programs. Maintain department conditions that support sales growth and operational excellence. Inventory & Financial Performance Assist with ordering and inventory management to maintain appropriate stock levels. Monitor sales performance and support achievement of department sales and profit goals. Review invoices, receiving processes, and inventory accuracy. Control expenses, reduce waste, and support shrink reduction initiatives. Assist with production of required department reports and documentation.

Development Train, coach, and mentor department associates. Provide performance feedback and support associate development. Assist with interviewing, onboarding, and staffing activities. Foster teamwork and accountability within the department. Promote compliance with company policies and procedures. Food Safety, Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards. Monitor storage and display temperatures to ensure product integrity. Maintain clean, organized work areas, sales floors, and backroom storage locations. Enforce company policies, regulatory requirements, and operational procedures. Identify and address potential safety hazards promptly.
