Mission Systems Engineering is a leader in the mechanical and electrical hardware design, development, and production of DoD and Government Communications Systems. The department supports customers for Land, Sea, and Airborne Programs for our US military and various international customers, keeping the world safe from foreign threats. The department is seeking motivated and driven mechanical engineers with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, analysis, integration and production support. As a senior mechanical engineer, you will be a member of a multi-disciplinary Integrated Program Team (IPT) consisting of System, Hardware and Software Engineers. Your work can support development of next generation systems, design enhancements, upgrades for existing products, and transition to production efforts. Product areas can include circuit card assemblies, electronics assemblies, and reflector-type antennas for communications systems.
What You Will Do
You will perform mechanical design, development, analysis and documentation of components and assemblies in accordance with system requirements You will provide support to production and suppliers during product integration Interface with the broader organization to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges. This can include engineering managers, engineers, designers, and structural/thermal analysts, other disciplines, program management, suppliers, and external customers You will work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals You will support and participate in reviews and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions You will apply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and hardware development in a fast paced, team environment You will mentor and guide less experienced engineers Qualifications You Must Have Experience designing and developing hardware, ranging from concept definition through detailed design and transition to production or product support. Demonstrated experience in mechanical design, product development, material selection, and manufacturing processes Experience with CAD design tools and associated product data management tools Experience solving technically challenging problems within aggressive timelines Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance Qualifications We Prefer Experience with design, fabrication, and integration of electronic assemblies, circuit card assemblies, structural components, equipment packaging and layout, and military defense systems CREO CAD system experience and PDM or similar product data management tools Previous experience with structural and/or thermal analysis using ANSYS, Flotherm and/or other analytical tools Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and ASME Y14.5 Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude Prior defense industry experience, designing and solving problems for high reliability systems operating within harsh military environments Working knowledge of
