About this role
Standard Job Description Position Summary Own the scheduling, resource‑tracking, and status‑reporting of major site projects using Microsoft Project. Drive disciplined questioning of the project plan to surface missing tasks, risk, and resource conflicts. The primary aim is to keep projects on schedule, within budget, and at the required quality level, and to convey concise, actionable information to site leadership. You will track resource allocations and communicate any shortfalls or bottlenecks to the appropriate managers, but you will not have direct authority to re‑assign staff.
Key Responsibilities
Primary – Project Planning & Execution Build & maintain detailed MS Project (or other software) schedules (tasks, dependencies, milestones). Track resources by skill‑type and by individual engineer name; capture planned versus actual effort. Conduct regular schedule reviews with project teams, asking focused questions such as: Which critical‑path activities are at risk? Are any required skill sets missing or over‑committed? Have assumptions changed that affect task duration? Identify resource‑allocation issues (over‑booking, skill gaps, competing commitments) and communicate them promptly to line managers, engineering leads, and other customers for resolution. Monitor cost performance within the schedule and flag variances early. Secondary – Leadership Communication & Reporting Prepare concise status dashboards (Gantt snapshots, resource heat‑maps, risk registers) for site leadership on the agreed cadence (e.g. weekly exec brief, monthly deep‑dive). Summarize project health (schedule, cost, quality, risk) in executive‑ready briefings, highlighting decisions needed and resource constraints. Facilitate cross‑functional coordination by serving as the central point of information between the project‑management office, planning, production, and line management. Additional Duties Capture lessons‑learned related to scheduling and resource tracking after project close‑out. Coach junior engineers on effective MS Project usage and on asking the right “status” questions. Participate in site‑wide continuous‑improvement initiatives where scheduling impacts throughput (Lean, Six Sigma). Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field ≥ 3 years’ hands‑on experience building and managing complex schedules in Microsoft Project/Jira/equivalent Earned Value Methodology experience US Citizen Desired Skills 5+ years in a manufacturing environment Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma Tools Proven experience summarizing complex projects to leadership Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $104900.00 - $194700.00 At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
