About this role
Thanks for your interest in Oklo! We are searching for a Director of Market Analytics to join our team.
Position Description
The Director of Market Analytics is the intelligence engine of Oklo's Origination organization. You will own the market research, energy price forecasting, load growth analysis, and competitive intelligence that underpin every site selection decision, offtake negotiation, and project finance model in Oklo's Aurora powerhouse pipeline. You report to the Sr Director of Origination and work in close partnership with the Directors of Land & Real Estate, as well as Oklo's Finance team on revenue model inputs.
Specific responsibilities may include
Market Research & Forecasting
• Own Oklo's long-term power market forecasting function across all target geographies: capacity prices, energy prices, ancillary services, and carbon compliance costs
• Develop and maintain market models covering AI datacenter load growth, electrification, generation retirements, new build pipeline, and transmission constraints
• Produce market assessments supporting site selection, development prioritization, and go/no-go decisions
• Monitor and analyze ISO/RTO capacity market results, energy market dynamics, and grid planning studies
Commercial & Policy Intelligence
• Provide market intelligence to support PPA negotiations: pricing benchmarks, contract structure norms, and counterparty credit analysis
• Track federal and state energy policy: IRA Section 45U PTC, state clean energy standards, carbon markets, and capacity market rules
• Monitor FERC rulemaking and RTO/ISO market design changes affecting Aurora powerhouse siting and interconnection economics
• Produce quarterly market intelligence briefings for the VP of Origination, VP of Development, and board
Offtake Structure & Value Optimization
• Lead comparative analysis of Oklo’s power offtake structures to maximize company value across the development portfolio, evaluating: Build-Own-Transfer (BOT) arrangements with utilities or sovereign buyers; physical bilateral PPAs with corporate, utility, and government counterparties; Virtual PPAs (VPPAs) and financial contracts for difference (CfD) with creditworthy corporate offtakers; capacity market participation and merchant revenue strategies for unsold output; and hybrid structures combining elements of the above to optimize risk-adjusted project returns
• Develop and maintain a quantitative offtake structure comparison model evaluating each structure across: NPV to Oklo, project finance bankability, revenue certainty vs. upside optionality, counterparty credit risk, regulatory complexity, and balance sheet impact — enabling the VP of Origination and CFO to make data-driven offtake strategy decisions at the project and portfolio level
• Produce deal-specific offtake structure recommendations for each Aurora powerhouse project, factoring in local market conditions, offtaker creditworthiness, state regulatory environment, IRA 45U PTC monetization strategy, and Oklo’s portfolio-level risk exposure
• Benchmark Oklo’s offtake structures against comparable nuclear, clean firm, and baseload generation transactions, identifying pricing floors, deal terms, and structural innovations that can improve Oklo’s commercial position
Team & Infrastructure
• Build and manage a team of market analysts and data scientists
• Establish Oklo's market data infrastructure: vendor relationships (S&P Global, Wood Mackenzie, LSEG, Aurora Energy Research), data pipelines, and reporting tools
• Build market intelligence capabilities for Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campuses (NLICs), analyzing co-location economics,
