Job Description
We are looking for a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join our Medical Affairs team and cover Belgium and Luxembourg, with a focus on Hematology. In this field-based role, you will build trusted, science-driven relationships with external experts, healthcare professionals, investigators, and other relevant stakeholders. You will provide accurate and balanced scientific information on AbbVie’s marketed products and compounds in development, always in a strictly non-promotional manner. Working closely with internal Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, and cross-functional teams, you will contribute to clinical research activities, scientific exchange, field insights, and the development of medical strategies that support better patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities : Build and maintain trusted, science-driven relationships with external experts, investigators, and healthcare professionals in Hematology, particularly Lymphoma, across Belgium and Luxembourg. Provide accurate, balanced, and up-to-date scientific information on AbbVie’s marketed products and compounds in development, in a strictly non-promotional manner. Facilitate scientific exchange through individual meetings, presentations, medical education activities, digital channels, and relevant scientific events. Support clinical studies and medical projects, including feasibility, site identification, study start-up, patient recruitment, and post-marketing activities. Provide scientific input to publications, medical materials, and internal scientific training in accordance with applicable processes. Gather and communicate relevant field insights on treatment practices, emerging data, competitor developments, and educational needs. Develop and maintain strong expertise in Hematology and the broader therapeutic landscape through continuous scientific learning and engagement with relevant scientific societies. Collaborate effectively with Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, and cross-functional teams while maintaining the functional independence of the MSL role. Plan and document field activities and external expert engagement in line with applicable tools, processes, and Medical Affairs objectives. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, industry codes, AbbVie policies, and procedures, while maintaining high standards of scientific integrity.
Qualifications
Advanced degree preferred, such as PharmD, M.D., Ph.D., or an equivalent degree in a relevant scientific discipline. Candidates with an undergraduate degree and relevant experience will also be considered. Experience in Hematology and/or Oncology is an asset. Experience in Medical Affairs, clinical research, scientific exchange, or a related pharmaceutical environment. Strong ability to develop and maintain relationships with external experts, physicians, and hospital clinical teams. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex scientific information clearly and effectively. Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and work effectively in a changing environment. Ability to quickly develop expertise in new scientific areas and translate relevant insights into meaningful actions. Proactive, dynamic, collaborative, and patient-focused mindset.
