About our group
Our team is part of Seagate’s Equipment Development Engineering organization. We collaborate with Seagate sites in the U.S. and internationally to develop advanced, cost-effective component test equipment for drive factories. For more than 25 years, our group has designed electronics used to test drive components. About the role - you will:
Join the Equipment Development Engineering team at our Shakopee, Minnesota design center to help develop, qualify, and release complex electronic hardware for disc drive head and media electrical test systems.
Develop and evaluate high-speed analog and digital circuits at the component, printed circuit assembly, and system levels using commercial test equipment, specialized fixtures, and custom software. Design and support electronic circuits and printed circuit assemblies used in component test equipment. Perform circuit checkout, troubleshooting, testing, and technical analysis to identify issues and develop effective solutions. Interpret technical specifications and translate requirements into practical electronic designs and test solutions. Use electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and other laboratory instrumentation, to evaluate circuit and system performance. Support PCB design and development activities, including schematic capture, PCB layout, manufacturing, and assembly. Collaborate with PCB and PCBA vendors to support fabrication, assembly, troubleshooting, and design improvements. Develop and maintain technical reports, design documentation, test procedures, and other engineering documentation. Apply knowledge of differential signaling, transmission lines, and impedance matching to high-speed electronic designs. Support FPGA development and debugging activities using VHDL/Verilog and associated development and simulation tools. Collaborate with engineers and technicians across Seagate to troubleshoot technical issues and support equipment development activities. Contribute to technical problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts within the Equipment Development Engineering team. About you:
You are a highly motivated engineer who enjoys hands-on circuit design, troubleshooting, testing, and data analysis. You are comfortable working in a high-technology laboratory environment and enjoy solving complex technical problems. You work effectively in a highly collaborative and dynamic team environment and can communicate technical information clearly to engineers, technicians, and other partners. You demonstrate strong troubleshooting and analytical skills and can work independently while collaborating closely with other technical team members. You are organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable documenting technical findings, test results, and design decisions. Your experience includes:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline and 5+ years of experience, or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline and 3+ years of experience, or PhD and 0+ years of experience or equivalent education and experience. Experience with electrical or electronic
