The Open Connect Infrastructure Capacity Planning team plays a central role in ensuring that our members and internal customers consistently enjoy a seamless experience, achieved through the timely deployment and ongoing management of Netflix’s owned infrastructure capacity. Our team is dedicated to the development of long-range capacity forecasts that are forward-looking, adaptable to rapidly evolving product needs, and focused on efficiency. We collaborate closely with a diverse range of cross-functional stakeholders to understand their current and future infrastructure requirements and make strategic recommendations around product implementation and design. Some of our team’s core responsibilities include:
* Development of Long-Range Infrastructure Capacity Strategies: Create forward-looking strategies that inform long-term financial planning, network design, and near-term deployment and implementation decisions.
* Effective Infrastructure Allocation: Convert demand forecasts across multiple products into clear, actionable capacity plans and strategic recommendations to drive investment decisions. Balance infrastructure availability across product types.
* Data-Driven Analyses for Platform Optimization and Scalability: Conduct ongoing, data-driven analyses focused on optimizing efficiency, spend, and architectural direction while ensuring long-term platform scalability and resiliency.
* Risk Assessment & Management: Identification of potential risks related to capacity shortages or excesses and development of mitigation strategies.
* Infrastructure Performance Monitoring: Continuous tracking of infrastructure performance and utilization to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
What You'll Do
The Open Connect Capacity Planning team is a centralized group positioned at the intersection of business strategy and implementation. Our mission is to strategically recommend, build, and maintain the right type and quantity of capacity in the right locations and at the right times to ensure high-quality service, efficiency, scalability, and resilience for Netflix and our ISP partners. The primary objectives include developing and executing infra capacity plans, providing technical expertise to leaders, analyzing data to inform capacity decisions, and driving long-term capacity roadmap planning. You will be partnering with stunning colleagues within Product & Technology Engineering organization to assess strategic initiatives, develop actionable insights, and drive operational analytics to inform short term and long term infrastructure strategy for Open connect. This is an individual contributor role that is expected to work with limited supervision on strategic thinking, problem solving, and running cross-functional stakeholder relationships and initiatives. Some of your primary responsibilities include:
* Translate demand signals (including bandwidth, storage, and network capacity requirements) into actionable capacity forecasts, both short-term and long-term, to inform infrastructure investment and scaling strategies.
* Conduct what-if analysis and hypothesis testing to assess capacity impacts and trade-offs driven by specific demand signals and product requirements; present outcomes, insights, risks, and potential mitigations, and define key metrics to support strategic investment and prioritization decisions for leadership, finance, and Engineering & Architecture teams.
* Orchestrate the timely implementation and allocation of infrastructure augments in coordination with deployment and operational teams.
