A Day in the Life This role supports supply chain planning and procurement activities for operations in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The function is responsible for ensuring the timely sourcing, planning, scheduling, and movement of materials required to support manufacturing operations, inventory objectives, and customer demand. The position partners closely with production, engineering, warehouse, and supplier teams to maintain continuity of supply and support operational performance. The Buyer/Planner is responsible for planning and executing procurement and material planning activities that support manufacturing operations. This role analyzes material requirements, coordinates supply and demand activities, manages supplier interactions, and helps ensure materials are available to meet production schedules while balancing cost, quality, and inventory objectives. Primary Responsibilities

Source, purchase, and plan materials, components, supplies, services, and finished goods to support production requirements. Analyze demand, inventory levels, and production schedules to determine material requirements and replenishment needs. Develop and maintain procurement and planning schedules to ensure material availability and continuity of supply. Evaluate pricing, supplier capabilities, and delivery performance to support cost-effective purchasing decisions. Coordinate with production, engineering, warehouse, and other cross-functional partners to resolve material shortages and scheduling issues. Monitor supplier performance and collaborate with suppliers to address quality, delivery, and capacity concerns. Track market and pricing trends to support procurement strategy and purchasing decisions. Maintain planning and procurement data within enterprise systems and support inventory management objectives. Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires a bachelor’s degree and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.

Nice to have

Experience utilizing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for purchasing, planning, or inventory management activities. Experience analyzing material requirements, inventory levels, demand forecasts, and production schedules. Experience working cross-functionally with operations, engineering, suppliers, and other business partners. Experience supporting manufacturing or medical device production environments. Experience with materials requirements planning (MRP) and inventory optimization processes. Experience evaluating supplier performance and managing supplier relationships. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis for planning and procurement decision-making. For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
