This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Oshawa on a full-time basis.

About the role

You will   be responsible   for   leading   and direct ing   all technical manufacturing plant operations. You will exercise a substantial amount of creativity,   perception   and initiative with a significant latitude for independent judgment and action. You will be managing a large group of salaried employees over multiple shifts. You will   be responsible   for   people leaders in   facilities and   manufacturing   engineering   across the entire campus .    Y ou will   en sure that technical operations suppor t   the attainment of organizational or divisional production   objectives , and that these   objectives   are achieved at the lowest cost consistent with quality requirements. You will   be responsible   for   supporting   the technical requirements   to meet   production schedules   and   plant   budget .   You will   be responsible for   the successful completion of all technical projects performed by internal or contract resources.   You will develop and drive a   safety   culture within the plant and uphold GM’s vision, values, and cultural behavio u rs. You will   be responsible   for   executing   workplace safety system element ownership responsibilities campus wide. You will   be responsible   for   acting   as the single voice of the plant in any Solutioning Left technical and strategic planning activities. You will work with corporate strateg y   planning teams to define the future of the Oshawa campus.    What   You’ll   Do (Responsibilities)   Lead and direct all technical manufacturing   activities     Provide strategic direction and technical leadership to the plant’s engineering, facilities, maintenance,   IT   and technical training teams   Provide guidance to teams to ensure continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, while   maintaining   operating budgets   Utilize plant KPI’s to   monitor   plant performance and drive continuous improvement to exceed business plan targets   Embrace   change and   be   a champion of innovation   Talent development   for   all technical and semi technical personnel to function at a world class level of   proficiency     Constantly work to improve the Workplace of Choice environment    Develop and drive a strong safety culture within the plant .    Execute workplace safety system element ownership responsibilities campus-wide   Responsible for forecasting in areas of responsibility    Negotiate   and   comply with   the terms of local and national labo u r agreements   Ensure successful completion of all technical projects performed by internal and contract resources   Act as the single voice of the plant in all Solutioning Left technical and strategic planning activities     Skills & Abilities:   Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field   Extensive experience in automotive manufacturing leadership with a focus on technical operations and plant management    Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate teams, drive change and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement   Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels of organization in plant and beyon d     Preferred Qualifications:   Advanced degree in a technical field   10+ years of experience in Automotive Manufacturing / Manufacturing Engineering   Government relations experience   or   exposure   Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing engineering standards, systems, and tools ( such   as
