Software Engineer III, Cloud AI

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. As a Software Engineer, you will be passionate about delivering Generative AI technologies to Cloud customers. You will be working closely with researchers, engineers, and product managers from both Google Cloud AI and Google Research, developing machine learning solutions that will contribute directly to Google's product excellence. You will develop features that integrate the next generation large language model with balanced trade-off between performance and deployment constraints. The Google Cloud AI Research team addresses AI challenges motivated by Google Cloud’s mission of bringing AI to tech, healthcare, finance, retail and many other industries. We work on a range of unique problems focused on research topics that maximize scientific and real-world impact, aiming to push the state-of-the-art in AI and share findings with the broader research community. We also collaborate with product teams to bring innovations to real-world impact that benefits our customers. Work closely with our customers including Antigravity, Gemini Code Assist, Gemini CLI, Android Studio, and others to address their needs and requirements. Design and implement the AI Developer Tools Platform and related services under the Gemini Enterprise umbrella, collaborating closely with other teams and functions across Cloud AI and beyond. Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, applying innovative AI techniques to increase productivity.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Go), or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree. 1 year of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging). Preferred qualifications: Experience in developing and deploying applications on cloud infrastructure (e.g., Google Cloud Platform). Experience building applications for enterprise needs, which includes AI safety, data residency, integration with existing systems. Familiarity with AI, machine learning, large language models (LLMs), or AI agents. Understand the unique needs of Cloud customers and effectively bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI technology and real-world use cases outside of Google. Track record of innovative ideas and rapid execution in the AI/ML space.
