Together, we’re improving health and improving lives. Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant Intern to join our Research and Development Team located in Burlington, NC! Work Schedule: M-F / 1st shift / 40hrs per week Job Responsibilities: Learn about clinical testing and processes behind testing development Learn industry techniques behind Next Generation Sequencing Development lead for a genetic transplant assay Maintain clear, thorough, and accurate experiment notes (or lab notebook) Apply Microsoft Excel for complex biological data analysis Minimum Qualifications: Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biomedical Sciences Preferred Qualifications: 3-6 months experience in cell or molecular biology-based laboratory classes 3-6 months knowledge or experience with Next Generation Sequencing technologies 1+ year experience in Microsoft Excel Additional Job Standards Interest in chemistry, biology, or related lab sciences Interest in clinical testing or molecular research fields Demonstrate strong attention to detail and willingness to follow laboratory procedures Eagerness to learn new laboratory skills and scientific concepts Show initiative and the ability to work independently under general supervision Have a genuine interest in laboratory science Maintains professionalism, including punctuality and appropriate conduct Strong communication skills; both written and verbal Actively participates in training sessions and applies newly learned skills accordingly Curiosity and eagerness to learn new things Join Labcorp’s 2027 Global Internship Program and take the first step toward a meaningful career in healthcare innovation! Internship 2027 Dates: June 1, 2027-August 13, 2027 About the Team: The Labcorp Diagnostic Research and Development Department supports multiple testing divisions across the Labcorp enterprise. This internship will work with the team located in Burlington, North Carolina that supports the DNA Identification testing division which provides Hematopoietic Stem Cell and Bone Marrow Transplantation services. Support includes development and operational implementation of Sanger, Next Generation Sequencing, and antibody assays used in either Bone Marrow donation registry submission, donor/recipient pre-transplantation workup, and recipient post-transplant monitoring.
