The Opportunity Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens and be eligible to obtain and maintain an active Australian Government Defence security clearance at the level required for the position. As an AIR6500 Product Owner , you will provide technical leadership across a complex, system-of-systems environment that is transforming how the Australian Defence Force manages air and missile defence operations. Working closely with Product Teams, Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) teams, customers and industry partners, you will shape product direction, define priorities, and drive delivery outcomes that support mission-critical capability. This is an opportunity to influence the development of cutting-edge Defence solutions, collaborate with highly skilled engineering professionals, and play a key role in a program of national significance. Key Responsibilities The AIR6500 Product Owner's primary responsibilities include: Defining and communicating the technical direction, scope and priorities for assigned AIR6500 products and capabilities Managing product backlogs, feature prioritisation and Agile planning activities in collaboration with Product Teams and SEIT stakeholders Establishing feature acceptance criteria and validating delivered outcomes against program objectives Assessing system architecture options, technical trade-offs and solution approaches to support informed decision-making Providing technical leadership, mentoring and domain expertise to engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle Acting as the voice of the customer while collaborating with internal stakeholders, Defence customers and industry partners to achieve program outcomes What you'll bring To be successful in this role you will have: Extensive experience delivering complex engineering solutions within Agile development environments Proven technical leadership experience across large-scale systems, engineering acquisition programs or Defence capability projects Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and build trusted relationships Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including evaluating technical trade-offs and delivering value-driven solutions Experience working with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies, with an understanding of MBSD and MBE principles Defence industry experience and knowledge of Air Battle Management, Integrated Air & Missile Defence, DevSecOps or related domains will be highly regarded Degree qualifications in a relevant Engineering Discipline or relevant industry experience An Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data and information Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice Don't meet every requirement?
