Work Arrangement: This role follows a hybrid schedule and requires in-office presence in one of our office location in Scottsdale AZ, Des Moines IA or Columbus, Ohio two days per week. Candidates must be based within a commutable distance on of our offices. Work Authorization: This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT Extension program. This Software Engineering Leader role sits within our P&C Technology Data organization, leading agile and engineering practices across our data platforms, pipelines, and the analytics, ML, and AI solutions built on them. You'll coach data engineering and platform teams on Lean, agile, and DevSecOps applied to DataOps and MLOps, championing automation-first strategies, strong data quality and observability, and secure-by-design practices for governed, trusted data. Partnering with data governance, architecture, and analytics stakeholders, you'll strengthen engineering maturity and deliver data as a shared enterprise asset, not point solutions. Job Description
Key Responsibilities: Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities. Manages software engineering and development capability uplift. Enables and champions innovation across teams to advance engineering practices, delivery outcomes, and business value. Coaches technology teams on Lean, agile, DevSecOps, and automation principles and makes connections across areas to share methodologies and increase adoption. Identifies key insights from metrics such as time to market (speed), quality and efficiency, and drives continuous improvement. Drives an automation-first approach within Technology teams. Consults on technology team formation, including consolidating, optimizing and de-constructing agile teams. Drives variable capacity management for technology teams through staff augmentation, managed capacity, and associate staffing to ensure teams are appropriately staffed. Leads all aspects of associate management, including performance, salary administration, training and development, hiring, day-to-day management and corrective actions.
