About this role

As Government Affairs and Public Policy Manager for Regional Strategy, you will lead Google's strategy on region-wide issues in Southeast Asia and engage with regional and international organizations, governments and key stakeholders across the region. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic government affairs and public policy initiatives at the regional level that support Google's business goals and values. This includes leading policy campaigns on key issues (but not limited to) such as AI, cybersecurity, anti-scams and fraud, content regulation, and competition.

Develop strategy for engaging with ASEAN and other regions to advance a bold and responsible approach to AI and other policy objectives across Southeast Asia. Develop and execute government affairs and public policy strategies in SEA that align with Google's mission; lead and manage key policy campaigns, advocating with organizations and governments for Google's interests on a wide range of issues including AI, cybersecurity, anti-scams and fraud, content regulation, and competition. Build and nurture a strong and dynamic network of trade associations, industry partners, non-profit groups, and other allies to support policies across SEA that promote a bold and responsible approach to AI, an open Internet, and a user-focused online environment. Monitor, analyze, and anticipate regional and geopolitical dynamics relevant to Google’s objectives; develop actionable recommendations to inform Google's strategy in the region.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 10 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, law, or relevant industry associations. 10 years of experience working in public affairs, political communications, political campaigns, or within the government. Preferred qualifications: Experience with internet and AI technologies and their relevant policy frameworks. Experience with regional or international organizations, or in government. Experience using AI tools as part of your work. Understanding of the local policy and regulatory environment. Ability to learn quickly about technical and regulatory issues and excellent communication and presentation skills
