 Job Description The Machinist I will perform basic set-up and operate machine shop equipment using applicable tools. Apply basic mechanical techniques to assemble or repair various machine parts. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, shop mathematics, understanding of metal properties and layout procedures used in machining parts. Responsible for developing the skills and experience related to the troubleshooting of mechanical problems in production equipment and processes. This requires general maintenance knowledge for trouble shooting equipment problems. Assists with Engineering and other technical resources. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Perform duties of Machine shop to include milling, grinding, CNC, welding, etc... Studies specifications, such as blueprints, hand drawn sketches or description of part to be replaced and plans sequence of operations to repair or reproduce part as required. Assists with preventive maintenance on equipment as specified or as required to ensure a smooth operation. Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points to layout stock for machining. Able to setup and operate lathes, milling machines, shapers, grinders, drill presses and other machining equipment to machine parts to specifications, and verifies conformance of parts to specifications using measuring instruments. Positions and secures parts on surface plate or worktable with such devices as vises, V-blocks and plates and uses hand tools to fit and assemble parts to assemblies or mechanisms. Verifies dimensions and alignment with measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges and gauge blocks. Perform simple welding and soldering as needed under supervision. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES G eneral mechanical knowledge of equipment to diagnose production equipment problems and resolve either by adjusting or repairing. Observes all safety and environmental procedures and QSR (Quality Safety Regulations). Complies with all applicable specifications, plant policies, and Departmental Procedures. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma (Required) Two years machining experience. (Required) Three years of machining experience. (Preferred) Why Join Us?
