Program Summary The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) sustains the Army’s mission to develop, acquire, field, and sustain ground combat, tactical, and support systems throughout their lifecycle. The program focuses on ensuring operational readiness, reliability, and safety of automotive and ground support equipment critical to Army operations. Under this contract, personnel provide maintenance, repair, overhaul, and sustainment support in accordance with Army technical manuals, safety standards, and performance requirements.

Job Summary

The Environmental Technician supports environmental compliance and sustainability efforts for TACOM‑managed facilities, operations, and maintenance activities. This role assists with inspections, monitoring, waste management, and environmental documentation to ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations, permits, and Army policies. The technician will play a critical role tracking waste streams, manifests, and disposal activities in accordance with regulatory and contractual requirements. This position is contingent upon award Roles and Responsibilities Assist with environmental compliance activities in support of TACOM operations and facilities Conduct routine environmental inspections of shops, storage areas, and work sites Support hazardous material and hazardous waste management activities, including labeling, storage, and accumulation point inspections Assist with spill prevention, response, and reporting requirements Collect environmental samples (e.g., soil, water, waste) as required and maintain chain‑of‑custody documentation Support compliance with federal, state, local, and Army environmental regulations (e.g., RCRA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act) Maintain accurate environmental records, logs, reports, and inspection documentation Identify potential environmental compliance issues and report findings to environmental staff or management Support internal audits, external inspections, and government environmental reviews Promote environmental awareness and safe work practices among personnel Comply with all safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and environmental monitoring tools Basic Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; supplemental technical or vocational training preferred Typically 1-3 years of experience supporting environmental, safety, or compliance programs in an industrial, military, or governmental environment Basic understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirements Ability to follow environmental procedures, SOPs, and regulatory guidance Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Ability to perform work in physically demanding environments Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (as required) U.S. citizenship required Preferred Qualifications Previous experience supporting DoD, Army, or TACOM environmental programs Familiarity with hazardous waste management and environmental inspections Knowledge of environmental regulations such as RCRA, SPCC, and stormwater requirements Experience working in maintenance shops, industrial facilities, or field environments Prior government contracting experience Additional Information This position will be a part of a physical work environment that requires standing, walking, and lifting. There is potential exposure to machinery, tools, fuels, oils, and outdoor conditions. Employees may also be required to work shifts, overtime, or weekend support based on mission needs.
