Job Description
Payroll Lead Job Summary TJX Payroll Lead is responsible for overseeing the timely and accurate processing of payroll for the company, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations, managing time and attendance systems, resolving payroll discrepancies, training new associates on payroll procedures, and providing support to HR teams on payroll related issues, all while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive employee data. Major Areas of Responsibility: Oversee the timely and accurate entry of payroll data into the UKG and Banking Systems. This includes adjustments for store, DC, and home office associates, severance, disability and LOA, garnishments, and direct deposits. Review and audit the work of coordinators and peers. Ensure critical daily and weekly deadlines are met, and all exception items are resolved in time for the processing of the weekly payroll. Assist Payroll Coordinators with requests including voids/reversals/reissues Run and review various SOX and internal audit reports, researching exceptions, documenting findings, and ensuring accuracy of payroll data for all domestic associates. Assist in problem solving to ensure all associates are paid timely and accurately, and garnishments are posted properly. Audit the work of coordinators to ensure accuracy and completeness. Monitor compliance of home office payroll administrators. Create various balance adjustments and enter others as directed to ensure associates' records reflect accurate information; create and enter various BEE batches to ensure appropriate payments and adjustments are issued timely and accurately Provide various weekly payroll reports for analysis, reconciling, and compliance with SOX; assist with Abandoned Property State filings. Assist with testing enhancements or fixes to the Oracle Payroll System. Train or assist new associates on payroll procedures and guidelines, provide on-going assistance and support in resolving issues. Ensure knowledge and judgment are executed when dealing with confidential and/or sensitive issues. May provide input to management regarding associate performance. Minimum Skill Required: Very Good Problem-Solving skills and Critical Thinker/Problem Solving skills (i.e. can identify and anticipate problems); ability to work independently and involve others as appropriate Strong Leadership skills (i.e. ability to review workloads and reallocate as needed, ability to train and set expectations for associates) Good Decision-Making skills (i.e. ability to decide based on a mixture of analysis, experience, and judgment); ability to make good decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines Strong Organizational and Follow Through skills (ability to effectively handle multiple tasks each day and to clearly document findings) Ability to provide quality customer service to a variety of contacts, via verbal and written communication• Good PC skills (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Word) • Ability to work well in a high-volume production environment as part of a team Minimum experience required to perform this job: 1 - 3 years payroll experience Associate discount; Employee Assistance Program (EAP); smoking cessation support; bereavement leave; 401(k) Associate contributions; credit union; cell phone discounts.
