Standard Job Description 
 Interprets, recommends, and complies with environmental, health and safety regulations and/or company policies. Assists in planning for changes in physical facilities to meet new environmental requirements. Finds, evaluates, and prepares contracts for properly licensed hazardous and radioactive waste disposal firms and monitors waste handling. Organizes and equips spill-control teams. Writes and updates environmental and spill-control manuals and procedures. Prepares environmental impact statements and applies for all new permits and renewals. Provides input to federal and state regulators through trade associations and industry groups for the writing and revision of regulations.   You will be the Environmental Health & Safety Engineer working second shift for Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control in Camden, AR. Our team is responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant operational environment across the site.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Environmental Health & Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for driving safety compliance across the site and supporting the customer’s needs. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:   Identifies hazardous workplace conditions and takes preliminary samples and measurements of hazardous forces and toxic substances, removes hazards and/or protects employees by guarding, revising work procedures, and training or requiring use of protective clothing and personal protective equipment. Takes effective steps to ensure that workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standard provisions of any labor agreement, ensuring that all required records are prepared and maintained. Investigates, prepares, and forwards as required reports on injuries and fatalities. MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.   Basic Qualifications 
 Formal education in related discipline or equivalent experience/combined education. Must be able to interpret federal regulations, standards and other associated compliance driven programs. Ability to evaluate, apply, audit, and communicate regulatory compliance requirements. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, across levels of the organization. Proficient with computer-based tools and applications (Microsoft Office business programs). Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Ability to work additional time outside of normal work schedule. Candidate must be able to pass a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (“ATF”) background check to obtain approval to be an “employee possessor” (of explosives or other ATF-regulated items) as defined by ATF regulations. Failure to obtain and retain employee possessor status may result in revocation of an offer and loss of employment Desired Skills 
 Background working knowledge of Explosive Safety and Engineering practices. Fundamental understanding of occupational safety and health requirements in manufacturing and construction operations. Competence in reading, interpreting, and developing written instructions based on technical drawings and documentation. Experience with robotics and other automated production tooling.
