JOB SUMMARY
The VP, Platform Engineering leads NCLH's platform, cloud, infrastructure, database, and end-user engineering functions across shoreside and shipboard environments. This role is accountable for the architecture, engineering, and operational reliability of the technology platforms that power the enterprise, ensuring they are secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned to NCLH's business and growth strategy. The VP partners closely with the CISO & Platform Engineering leader and cross-functional IT leadership to modernize the technology estate and enable the company's cloud and digital transformation.
POSITION
RESPONSIBILITIES Lead and develop the Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Database Engineering, End User Engineering, and Mobile Device Engineering teams, ensuring the right technical depth and structure to support current platforms and future technology direction. Own the architecture, engineering, and lifecycle management of NCLH's cloud and on-premises infrastructure, driving the company's ongoing cloud migration and modernization strategy across public, private, and hybrid environments. Direct the design, build, and support of core infrastructure services (compute, storage, virtualization, database) that underpin shoreside and shipboard operations, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery readiness. Set the strategy and roadmap for end-user computing and mobile device engineering, delivering consistent, secure, and reliable technology experiences for shoreside employees and shipboard crew. Partner with the CISO & Platform Engineering leader and the Cybersecurity, Risk & Compliance, and Connectivity & Voice functions to ensure platform designs meet security, regulatory, and compliance requirements (e.g., SOX, PCI DSS). Collaborate with business leaders, application owners, and enterprise architecture peers to align platform investments with business strategy and ensure efficient, effective delivery of technology services. Establish and monitor platform performance, capacity, and cost management practices, driving continuous improvement in reliability, scalability, and total cost of ownership. Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing engineering organization; establish career development paths and ensure succession readiness across platform teams. Drive engineering standards, automation, and DevOps/SRE practices to improve delivery velocity and operational resilience across shoreside and shipboard platforms. QUALIFICATIONS
DEGREE TYPE: FIELD(S) OF STUDY: Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field EXPERIENCE 12+ years of progressive IT infrastructure/platform engineering experience, including 6+ years in a senior leadership role managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams. Proven experience architecting and operating large-scale cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), infrastructure, and database platforms in a complex, 24/7 operating environment.
