Become a part of the “strength within.” Hexcel is currently seeking an Automation Controls Technician – Night Shift for our Salt Lake City, UT, USA, Matrix location.   The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations: Troubleshoot, program, integrate, install, modify, and upgrade PLC-based control systems, including Rockwell, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Parker, GE, and SCR control platforms Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Distributed Control Systems (DCS), including Human-Machine Interface (HMI/MMI) programming and configuration Configure, commission, modify, upgrade, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) to ensure optimal equipment performance and reliability Diagnose, troubleshoot, and support calibration of instrumentation devices, while providing technical training support, training, and guidance to electricians Configure, initialize, and maintain monitoring and control devices for process automation and equipment performance monitoring Perform instrumentation and controls troubleshooting, debugging, and system optimization, while supporting controls-related projects and resolving process issues in collaboration with engineering teams Implement, configure, and troubleshoot web tension control systems to support production quality and process stability Support plant reliability and production uptime initiatives through rapid troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify and resolve equipment and process issues that impact safety, quality, and productivity Maintain accurate documentation of control systems, programming changes, equipment configurations, and troubleshooting activities   Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Automation, Instrumentation, or a related technical field preferred Qualified candidate must have at least 1+ years of experience with automation and process controls Qualified candidates must be able to work nights on a rotating 3/4 schedule (12-hour shifts). Employees work three nights one week and four nights the next, with every other Saturday off and an extended weekend every other week. Experience creating or modifying electrical and control system drawings using AutoCAD or similar design software is preferred. Experience working with industrial automation, process control systems, and manufacturing equipment in a production environment Demonstrated proficiency in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and system integration Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, control panels, and electrical control circuits, with the ability to specify components, interpret applicable codes and standards, and develop or redline technical drawings Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and management personnel Proficient in reading, interpreting, and troubleshooting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical documentation Experience creating or modifying electrical and control system drawings using AutoCAD or similar design software is preferred. Working knowledge of industrial networking, Ethernet communications, and automation protocols, including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet, Historian or similar technologies is a plus Experience with motor control systems, including setup, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting of Variable
