Job Description
AECOM Markham is seeking a Senior Bridge Design Engineer to lead and execute complex bridge and transportation structure projects from concept to completion. This role offers the opportunity to serve as a technical expert and mentor, guiding project teams while ensuring innovative, high-quality, and cost-effective design solutions. The ideal candidate will bring advanced structural engineering expertise, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to excellence in infrastructure development.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a technical advisor and senior resource for bridge design and analysis, ensuring compliance with Canadian and international design standards. Lead multidisciplinary teams in the design, assessment, and rehabilitation of major transportation structures. Provide specialized technical input on structural materials, construction methods, and engineering best practices. Oversee quality control reviews, ensuring the accuracy of design calculations, drawings, and technical reports. Develop innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions, optimizing structural performance and longevity. Prepare and review technical specifications, feasibility studies, and construction cost estimates. Collaborate with clients, contractors, government agencies, and internal teams, facilitating seamless project execution. Contribute to the development of engineering budgets, project schedules, and resource planning to meet delivery milestones. Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Minimum 6+ years of experience in bridge and transportation structure design. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive experience leading complex bridge design projects, including major transportation infrastructure. Proficiency in advanced structural analysis and design software (e.g., MIDAS, CSI Bridge, SAP2000). Strong knowledge of Canadian bridge design codes and standards (CHBDC, AASHTO, etc.). Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with experience supervising engineers and designers. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders. Proven ability to coordinate with contractors, government agencies, and interdisciplinary teams for seamless project execution.
