Thomson Power Systems is seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Assembler to provide technical leadership for the mechanical assembly operations supporting our switchgear and power distribution products. This role combines hands-on assembly responsibilities with coaching, training, troubleshooting, and process improvement activities.
Position
Overview As a Lead Mechanical Assembler, you will serve as the technical expert and coach for mechanical assembly operations. You will support the development of team members while ensuring products are built according to engineering specifications, quality standards, and production schedules. You will play a critical role in developing assembler capability and helping establish best-in-class mechanical assembly practices within the Arlington facility.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership Serve as the subject matter expert for mechanical assembly operations Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and bills of material Support complex assemblies and troubleshooting activities Verify products meet engineering and customer requirements Assist employees with assembly techniques and best practices Coaching & Employee Development Train new Mechanical Assemblers on assembly standards and procedures Conduct hands-on demonstrations of proper assembly techniques Cross-train employees across multiple processes Evaluate skill development and recommend training needs Encourage continuous learning and professional growth Production Execution Support daily production goals and schedules Coordinate workflow within the assigned area Help resolve material, process, and assembly issues Assist supervisors with manpower planning and resource allocation Ensure standard work is executed consistently Quality & Continuous Improvement Promote first-pass quality and error prevention Lead problem-solving activities related to assembly issues Participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives Support the development of visual standards and standardized work Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED 4+ years of mechanical assembly experience Ability to read engineering drawings and mechanical blueprints Experience working with hand tools, power tools, and torque equipment Experience reading and working from bills of material Strong troubleshooting and coaching ability Preferred Qualifications Prior Lead Assembler experience Switchgear or electrical equipment manufacturing experience Lean Manufacturing training Experience supporting plant start-ups or new product launches What Success Looks Like Assemblies are built right the first time Team capability increases through coaching and training Mechanical quality issues decline over time Standard work is consistently followed Employees advance into higher-skilled positions Shift: Mon-Thur/Tue-Fri 5:45AM-4:15PM Pay Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision and Prescription Drug Coverage Spending accounts (HSA, Health Care FSA and Dependent Care FSA) Paid Time Off and Holidays 401k Retirement Plan with Matching Employer Contributions Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance Paid Leaves Tuition Assistance About Regal Rexnord Regal Rexnord is a publicly held global industrial manufacturer with 30,000 associates around the world who help create a better tomorrow by providing sustainable solutions that power, transmit and control motion.
