Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and talented Survivability Systems Engineer to join the team located in El Segundo, CA. The Survivability Systems Engineer/Scientist supports multidisciplinary survivability tasks through all satellite program phases. The Survivability group is a multidisciplinary department which analyzes vehicles for Space Environmental disciplines such as: Contamination, Micrometeoroid, Single Event Effects, Radiation, Electro 641, Reliability, Thermal Analysis, (I)ESD, and EMI/C. As part of the Survivability team the candidate will get the opportunity to apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to assist with analyses, design, development and verification of a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. This position's internal job code is Systems Engineer. Our team is currently hiring for a Level 1 and 2.
Responsibilities
Perform basic survivability analyses (contamination, micrometeoroid, radiation, EMI/EMC) using tools such as MATLAB, Mathcad, or Thermal Desktop Execute material‑level and subsystem‑level tests in simulated space environments; record and report results Assist senior engineers in preparing compliance documentation and test plans Participate in cross‑disciplinary design reviews, flagging cost, weight, or risk trade‑offs. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement 1-5 years of relevant experience or combined academic projects This position requires a U.S. Security Secret Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Secret clearance Pre Start is required Preferred Qualifications Active TS/SCI clearance Introductory exposure to survivability tools (ANSYS, COMSOL).
