Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong work behaviors to join our team as a Scientist II within our Cell Biology team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to research projects with the potential to make a significant impact in the scientific community. What will you do?: Design experimental plans with guidance, execute studies, analyze experimental data, quantitative analyses and data summaries. Execute mammalian cell line development workflows, including transfection, stable pool generation, selection, single-cell cloning, clone screening, and data analysis. Develop and characterize recombinant mammalian cell lines for bioproduction, including assessment of growth, productivity, expression stability, and product quality. Work on complex problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Troubleshoot and solve problems associated with various types of R&D projects. Exercise practical judgment within broadly defined practices and policies and exhibit creativity and foresight in selecting approaches and techniques for obtaining solutions. Interact closely with other internal departments (i.e., Marketing, Business Development, Quality, Operations) in commercializing new products and customer and business support. Maintain an accurate lab notebook to support the protection of intellectual property following relevant Thermo Fisher required standards.

Education

Master’s degree in biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry or other related field, or equivalent knowledge and relevant experience preferred; open to Bachelor’s degree with 2 plus years of relevant experience Expertise in the methods and techniques of mammalian cell culture and cell line development (i.e., shake flasks, deep well plates, single-cell cloning platforms, ambr15 micro-bioreactors, etc.).

Skills

Minimum Qualifications: Proficiency in aseptic mammalian cell culture techniques, stable transfection, selection, single-cell cloning, and molecular biology methods. Solid understanding of data analysis and statistical software (e.g., JMP, GraphPad). Demonstrated ability to interpret complex datasets and make data-driven decisions. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Competence in research design, cell line development troubleshooting, and evaluating new techniques and procedures. Demonstrated experience generating and characterizing stable recombinant mammalian cell lines, including evaluation of growth, productivity, and stability.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with cell line development platforms and clone isolation/screening technologies (e.g., limiting dilution, single-cell dispensing, FACS, or imaging-based systems). Prior industrial experience, particularly in cell line development,
