The Corporate Affairs and Advocacy Manager will be responsible for leading stakeholder relationship and developing, operationalizing and integrating patient advocacy and therapeutic area communication strategies to drive business objectives and build BMS’s reputation in Canada. This role requires strong executional, strategic and creative capabilities to effectively develop and partner on high-impact, measurable programs. The Corporate Affairs and Advocacy Manager will report to the Head, Corporate Affairs in Canada.
Main Responsibilities
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Building Build and nurture long-term, trust-based partnerships with PAGs, strengthening their capacity to support patients and expanding BMS’s role as a collaborative and patient-focused industry partner. Partner closely with cross functional teams to integrate patient perspectives and advocacy insights into business planning, access strategies communications and health-system shaping initiatives. Identify opportunities for PAG participation in disease awareness events, community programs, webinars, scientific meetings, and external engagements that strengthen the visibility of the cause. Lead continuous monitoring of advocacy programs, capturing insights and metrics to assess impact on disease awareness campaigns, events, and patient engagement activities. Ensure patient advocacy activities, partnerships, grants, donations, sponsorships, and engagements are conducted in alignment with applicable laws, regulations, industry codes, and BMS policies; establish clear objectives and measures of impact for advocacy initiatives. Strategy, Planning and Implementation In collaboration with the Head, Corporate Affairs in Canada, develop and execute comprehensive patient advocacy strategies that strengthen BMS’s leadership in disease awareness and patient-centric engagement across priority therapeutic areas, such as cardiovascular, oncology, hematology, and neuroscience. Create and partner on integrated advocacy plans designed to support earlier diagnosis, improve the patient journey, and amplify understanding of highly under-diagnosed or complex diseases. Develop stakeholder-tailored communication materials that support PAG outreach efforts, such as educational toolkits, disease recognition guides, social-media-ready content, awareness month activations, and patient journey maps, ensuring that all materials are developed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, industry codes and BMS policies and respect the independence and autonomy of patient advocacy groups. Lead national-level disease awareness programs in collaboration with PAGs, medical societies, and key opinion leaders (KOLs), ensuring materials are clear, evidence-based, and aligned with BMS’s commitment to scientific excellence. Support patient engagement initiatives related to clinical trial awareness, in partnership with Medical, Clinical Operations, RCO and PAGs, in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies. Policy, Advocacy & Stakeholder Engagement Communications Identifies and engages patient leaders on policy issues of mutual interest Supports efforts to shape and execute policy‑ and advocacy‑related communications, in close partnership with Corporate Affairs and Market Access and Policy.
