About this role
Amazon's Worldwide Brand Protection organization ensures that brands can protect their Intellectual Property, and customers can shop with confidence across Amazon's global stores. We do this through ML-powered detection systems that identify abusive actors at enrollment, identity verification pipelines that gate access to brand privileges, and automated enforcement mechanisms that detect catalog manipulation and coordinated abuse at scale. We are seeking a motivated, data-driven Sr. Risk Manager to join the Brand Protection Policy & Governance team, which owns the development, evolution, and consistent application of Brand Protection's policy frameworks across Amazon's global stores. As the threat landscape shifts, this team creates and adapts policies that define enforcement actions, shape operational processes, and govern seller-facing communications. In this role, you will lead policy and governance initiatives—driving the evolution of existing enforcement policies, spearheading new strategic policy development, eliminating process defects along the way, and building the supporting scalable frameworks needed to operationalize them at global scale. Working across multiple organizations, you will ensure that every policy initiative is grounded in risk reduction and aligned to protect customers, strengthen brand trust, and set selling partners up for success. The ideal candidate is self-driven, takes initiative, and thrives in environments where they must independently identify opportunities, shape direction, and move work forward. They bring strong business judgment, analytical thinking, and excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of succeeding in a customer-driven workplace under tight deadlines. They possess strong judgment—the ability to assess risk, identify and propose multiple solutions, and weigh strategic trade-offs to arrive at the right call in complex, ambiguous situations. Key job responsibilities -Define and drive policy and governance strategy that enables scalable, fair, and comprehensive Brand Protection enforcement—including SOP and policy decisions that balance customer trust, seller fairness, and operational efficiency -Lead cross-organizational initiatives to drive policy unification and alignment, partnering with Operations, Product, Engineering, Science, Legal, and other stakeholders to converge on the right solutions -Manage the lifecycle of complex, cross-functional programs—defining objectives, driving risk and defect reduction strategies, and quantifying improvements through clear metrics and success criteria -Dig deep into specific problem statements—conducting root-cause analyses, developing data-backed recommendations, and surfacing solutions to senior leadership for decision-making -Own strategic roadmaps for policy and governance initiatives, ensuring clear prioritization, stakeholder alignment, and measurable progress against key objectives -Drive stakeholder alignment by leading structured discussions, balancing risk management priorities with customer experience, and making thoughtful trade-offs on scope, timing, and resource allocation -Partner with cross-functional teams—which may include Legal, Operations, Product, Science, and others—to quickly handle and resolve critical, time-sensitive enforcement challenges -Communicate progress and outcomes through compelling narratives and presentations to directors and vice presidents, representing risk programs to both internal partners and external parties such as audit firms or regulators -Navigate fluidly between high-visibility, cross-org strategic work and deep, focused problem-solving on individual policy challenges—adapting approach based on what the business needs
