About You and this Role Dow is seeking a Maintenance Planner to join our Maintenance & Engineering team in Toronto, Ontario. In this role, you will be responsible for planning maintenance work to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. You will develop detailed job plans, coordinate required resources, manage the maintenance planning backlog, and work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and contractors to ensure maintenance work is planned and executed effectively.
Responsibilities
Develop detailed job plans and work packages from approved work order scopes, ensuring all labor, materials, tools, equipment, permits, contractor services, and resources are identified prior to execution. Review work order requests for scope and technical completeness, partnering with stakeholders to clarify requirements as needed. Create and maintain job packages in SAP/CMMS, including labor estimates, materials, services, and resource requirements. Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and contractors to define executable work scopes and support safe, efficient maintenance execution. Manage the maintenance planning backlog, ensuring work is prioritized and planned in alignment with business needs and site standards. Support daily maintenance execution by monitoring work progress, adjusting priorities as needed, and helping resolve work execution challenges. Initiate and support work permit requirements and ensure maintenance activities comply with site work management processes, planning standards, and safety procedures. Verify completion of planned work, required documentation, and work order closeout activities. Use feedback from completed work to improve job plans, coach craftspeople on documentation requirements, and drive continuous improvement in maintenance planning processes. Conduct field audits to ensure adherence to maintenance procedures and local policy requirements. Support reliability initiatives, plant shutdowns, outages, and other major maintenance activities.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent plus a Journeyman Certificate (Red Seal), or a college diploma or university degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or another related technical discipline. A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in maintenance, manufacturing, reliability, industrial operations, or a related field. Strong understanding of maintenance planning, job scoping, scheduling, and work management practices. Experience with SAP Previous maintenance planning experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred. Ability to work safely in an industrial environment while following all safety procedures and PPE requirements. A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in Canada.
