Our work spans the full spectrum of Airbus commercial wing designs, from supporting current solutions to developing improvements through process digitalization. The Airbus Engineering Structures Wing organization is a transnational team with sites in the UK, France, and Germany. This position is primarily based in Filton, UK, where a community of over 400 engineers collaborates on the design and manufacture of wings for all Airbus commercial aircraft. Our work covers all major aircraft programs—A220, Single Aisle, Long Range, A350, A380, and A400m—and we are also actively engaged in research and development for new aircraft configurations to enable more efficient and environmentally sustainable aviation.

As a student engineer you will develop the digital solutions needed across a wide range of more traditional disciplines within the wing business. During this placement, the activities you may undertake will include: Develop your learning journey towards Configuration management and Digital Mock up and processes; Applying Python, Java, GScript, C++ based Automation in order to improve design and stress processes; Influence Digital Transformation within the wing and airframe organisations; Perform Data Analytics on Skywise, Google Studio and internal platforms developed by Airbus; Develop machine learning algorithms on various platforms; Use of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) techniques; Support the move from Server Based Microsoft Applications to Cloud Based Google Applications.

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only . Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.
