Learn more about our benefits .  Shape Global Trade Compliance in a High-Tech Engineering Environment Applied Materials is looking for a Technical Trade Compliance Specialist to join our EMEA Trade Compliance team. This role offers a unique opportunity for engineers to apply their engineering, manufacturing, operations, logistics, or supply chain expertise in the highly specialized field of international trade compliance. As part of a global semiconductor technology leader, you will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, logistics, procurement, tax, finance, and operations teams to ensure the compliant movement of advanced equipment, spare parts, materials, and technology across international borders. Initially supporting our operations in Italy, you will have the opportunity to expand your responsibilities across multiple Applied Materials sites throughout the   EMEA region.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of the EMEA Trade Compliance organization, you will: Support import, export, customs, and trade compliance activities for Applied Materials operations in Italy and across EMEA. Ensure compliance with applicable customs regulations, export control laws, licensing requirements, sanctions regulations, and local regulatory obligations. Support the administration of customs authorizations, permits, export licenses, and government applications. Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, Finance, and Tax teams to support compliant business operations. Analyze technical engineering documentation, product specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical manuals, and engineering drawings to determine customs and export control requirements. Support customs tariff classification (HS Codes / TARIC Classification) and export control classification activities. Assist with customs clearance reviews and regulatory compliance assessments. Participate in internal audits, compliance monitoring, and risk-based assessments. Identify opportunities for process improvement, simplification, and compliance automation. Support regulatory reporting obligations and documentation management. Deliver compliance awareness initiatives and training programs to business stakeholders. Partner with technical and engineering teams to ensure regulatory requirements are adequately reflected in operational processes.
