About this role
The Exploration, Environment, and Earth Intelligence Division is seeking an individual with demonstrated experience in the environmental, health, and safety industry to work in a dynamic and technically demanding professional environment. The Environmental Program Manager will initially serve as Deputy to the Commercial Compliance Lead, with the goal of expanding and ultimately leading the commercial industrial compliance portfolio.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop and execute strategies to support growth of the commercial industrial compliance portfolio. Manage P&L, operational performance, client engagement, and staffing. Lead multidisciplinary teams and provide First-Line Supervisor responsibilities. Develop and lead client meetings and presentations. Market services to existing and prospective clients and support client-base growth. Develop proposals and support business development activities. Perform technical work for industrial clients, including: Multimedia environmental compliance audits and assessments. Environmental, health, and safety management system assessments. Management system development and optimization. Manage projects and tasks, including: Coordinating and facilitating client meetings. Gathering and analyzing data. Preparing technical reports. Conducting regulatory analyses and interpretations. Managing project schedules and budgets. Providing direct oversight of project staff. Must be able to work effectively with multiple offices throughout the country. Must be willing to travel 10%–40%. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field. A master’s degree, professional registration/certification, and/or OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training are a plus. CHMM and ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certifications are desired. 15+ years of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility. Experience managing and leading the development of an environmental organization. Experience cultivating and growing a client base. Experience conducting environmental and/or health and safety compliance audits, including: Audit planning and scheduling. Document review and analysis. Regulatory applicability assessments. Identification of compliance gaps. Communication and reporting of audit results. Ability to determine applicable environmental regulatory requirements through review of: Federal Registers. Federal and state guidance documents. Industrial plant processes and operational status. Task and/or project management experience and experience writing technical reports. Experience developing scopes of work for compliance and management systems projects. Familiarity with EHS databases and experience participating in EHS information systems assessments and development. Strong technical writing skills. Strong QA/QC practices. Strong oral communication skills and the ability to interact professionally and effectively with clients. Ability to manage fast-paced work across a variety of environments while working effectively both independently and as part of a team. Proficiency with common business software, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Desired Skills
Familiarity with environmental and safety rules and regulations, including EPCRA, CAA, CWA, CERCLA, RCRA, and OSHA. Environmental data management skills and experience using database software such as Microsoft Access. Experience performing regulatory reporting, auditing, research, and analysis.
