As a Collateral Operations Associate within Derivative Operations in Commercial Investment Banking, you support key derivatives product areas including foreign exchange, over-the-counter derivatives, collateral, cleared derivatives, agency collateral, billing, and CASS. You manage margin call activities, collateral dispute handling, and regulatory adherence while partnering across back office, middle office, and global teams. You help build a culture of continuous improvement by supporting metrics, projects, and strategic automation initiatives across operations and technology stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities
Resolve collateral disputes. Execute daily margin exchange, same-day settlement, and exception management. Apply supervisory controls for collateral exposure. Oversee mark-to-market breaks, including data quality activities and strategic initiatives in partnership with middle office, credit risk, and other stakeholders. Diagnose upstream drivers and reduce breaks through targeted remediation. Lead regulatory compliance activities across Commodity Futures Trading Commission, European Market Infrastructure Regulation, and NCMR requirements. Strengthen process controls and ensure accurate, compliant execution aligned to regulatory rules. Coordinate new analysis requirements across stakeholders and provide regular updates to senior management on business-as-usual work and projects. Direct user acceptance testing activities. Deliver strategic automation initiatives. Required qualifications, skills, and capabilities: Hold a Chartered Accountant or Master of Business Administration qualification with 6+ years of operations experience, or a graduate/post-graduate degree with 8+ years of operations experience. Demonstrate familiarity with a global bank’s processes and operational environment, including management and external reporting. Exhibit strong investment banking business knowledge, including over-the-counter products, processes, and systems. Apply strategic thinking to address day-to-day issues while planning and executing initiatives aligned to operations goals. Drive results through a hands-on approach. Communicate clearly in writing and verbally with business and technology stakeholders at all levels. Use Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Access, and Project. Prioritize work effectively in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines. Preferred qualifications, skills, and capabilities: Demonstrate knowledge of Commodity Futures Trading Commission, European Market Infrastructure Regulation, and NCMR regulations. Show experience with over-the-counter confirmations, collateral management, and reconciliation platforms. Developing experience using AI-powered analytics, workflow automation, or intelligent process tools to drive efficiency gains, reduce manual effort, or improve accuracy in operational processes.
