About this role

Position

Overview As a Platform Hardware Design Engineer, you will drive the end-to-end development of platform hardware, translating high-level system requirements into detailed circuit and component-level specifications. You will oversee the complete design lifecycle—from schematic capture and PCB layout to board bring-up, debugging, and customer delivery—ensuring high performance, compatibility, and cost efficiency. Key Responsibilities • Drive end-to-end development of platform hardware and translate platform-level requirements to circuit and component-level specifications. • Design, develop, modify, and evaluate electronic parts, components, PCB, or integrated circuitry for hardware platforms, electrical engineering applications, and equipment. • Conduct logical design of printed circuit boards through component definition and schematic capture, define component placement and circuit trace routing rules, and oversee board layout from feasibility studies to board tapeout while meeting multidisciplinary platform-level requirements. • Consider BOM cost and availability data versus design tradeoffs at the board and system levels. • Apply design expertise to define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output, and working parameters for hardware and software compatibility. • Incorporate feedback from other functions (including verification, validation, manufacturing, and customer) to improve development methods. • Perform design research and verification, development, testing, and utilization of firmware, hardware, components, mechanisms, materials, thermal solutions, circuitry processes, packaging, and chassis for platform hardware. • Collaborate with architects, other platform hardware design engineers, hardware verification engineers, technical project managers, and technicians to plan and lead platform hardware power-on and debug activities. • Resolve system development and bring up issues to deliver high-quality boards and platforms for customers.

What We're Looking For

You should demonstrate the following professional traits to be successful: • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills to work effectively and cohesively in cross-functional team environments. • Excellent communication skills to coordinate technical alignments and resolve platform issues. • Strong multitasking capabilities to efficiently manage system bring-up activities alongside development tasks.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 7+ years of hands-on experience, OR Master's degree in a relevant field with 5+ years of experience, OR PhD in a relevant field with 3+ years of experience. Your years of experience must be in: • PCB design and layout processes, including component specification and routing rules • Hardware debugging, electrical interface design, and mixed-signal/analog fundamentals • Analyzing design trade-offs at the platform level and optimizing system compatibility • CMOS technologies, digital and analog board design, and power-on fundamentals Preferred Qualifications In addition to the minimum requirements, experience is preferred in: • Board assembly manufacturing flow and power analysis techniques • Resolving system bring-up issues and leading technical development activities • Producing technical documentation and contributing to platform validation strategies Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry-relevant job experience, internship experiences, and/or schoolwork, classes, or research.            Job Type: Experienced Hire Shift: Shift 1 (United States of America) Primary Location: US, Oregon, Hillsboro
