Position

Summary The HR Intern, Compliance and Employee Relations, will provide administrative and project support to the Human Resources team with a focus on compliance programs, employee relations intake, and documentation processes. This role is designed to provide practical exposure to key HR functions while supporting accurate recordkeeping, consistent processes, and timely follow-up on employee-related matters.

Core Responsibilities

Support administration of the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program, including tracking required documentation, assisting with record updates, and helping ensure program files are complete and organized. Assist with the random drug testing program by coordinating documentation, maintaining testing records, supporting communication workflows, and helping track compliance-related follow-up items. Support the compliance function by reviewing and organizing Form I-9 documentation, new hire paperwork, and other employment records for completeness and accuracy. Assist with new hire documentation processes, including preparing, collecting, auditing, and filing required employment forms in accordance with company procedures. Help monitor compliance-related deadlines, documentation gaps, and follow-up items, escalating issues to HR team members as needed. Assist with employee relations intake by documenting initial concerns, organizing relevant information, and routing matters to the appropriate HR representative. Provide administrative support for employee relations matters, which may include preparing timelines, compiling documentation, maintaining confidential files, and assisting with investigation logistics. May assist with employee relations investigations under the direction of HR leadership, including gathering documentation, scheduling meetings, preparing notes, and supporting follow-up activities. Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive employee information, compliance records, and employee relations matters. Support HR projects, reporting, audits, and process improvements related to compliance, employee relations, and general HR operations.

Qualifications

Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Labor Relations, or a related field preferred. Interest in HR compliance, employee relations, employment documentation, and workplace investigations. Minimum 3.0 GPA Experience: Customer service orientation and ability to interact respectfully with employees, managers, and HR team members.

Skills

Strong attention to detail with the ability to review documentation for completeness and accuracy. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and follow established processes. Professional judgment and sound decision-making when working with sensitive information. Organizational skills with the ability to track multiple tasks and maintain accurate records. Curiosity and willingness to learn HR policies, procedures, compliance requirements, and employee relations practices.
