Location: Rockport, IN Cleveland-Cliffs, Rockport Works has immediate opportunities for Maintenance Mechanical Technicians. The Maintenance Mechanical Technician is responsible for providing safe and timely installations, routine and preventative maintenance, and repair to industrial machinery, and/or other plant equipment. Summary of Responsibilities: Safely perform repairs on a wide variety of equipment, piping, pumps, process fans, motors, hydraulic systems, compressors, ventilation fans, air receivers, conveyor installations, chutes, etc. in both inside and outdoor applications in a continuous operating environment Assess the equipment operating condition and carry out appropriate repairs Utilize knowledge and training to detect mechanical equipment malfunction Inform and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose mechanical problems or repair machines Utilize a CMMS system to prepare requests for maintenance services (RMS) providing detailed information to expedite repairs Utilize equipment drawings or standards to inspect parts to ensure they conform to purchase orders Dismantle defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts Attend outage, safety and staff meetings Operate mobile equipment Work closely with Hourly Production Technicians, Mechanical & Electrical Engineers, Maintenance Electrical Techs, and Maintenance Planners Ability to work under minimal supervision and effectively manage multiple/changing priorities Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Three to five years related experience and/or training Equivalent combination of education (Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college) and experience Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality Ability to read, understand, and follow operating instructions and procedure manuals Effective communication skills – verbal and written Preferred Qualifications: Associates Degree or 2-year technical school degree/certification, or 3-5 years related experience/training Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is the largest flat-rolled steel company and the largest iron ore pellet producer in North America.
