About this role
Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable broadband connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From households to small businesses, schools, hospitals, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve communities and organizations operating in places without dependable internet access. The Ground Systems Engineering team is responsible for the ground segment infrastructure that connects Amazon Leo satellites to the terrestrial internet. As Amazon Leo scales into international markets, each piece of ground segment equipment must be certified and type-approved for operation in the destination country — a process known as homologation. We are looking for a Technical Program Manager to own and drive the homologation program for GGT equipment across all target markets. You will be the central coordination point between engineering, regulatory, legal, trade compliance and third-party test laboratories, to ensure that all required certifications (EMC, safety, RF, environmental) are obtained on schedule. In addition to homologation, you will work with Software and Hardware Development teams, multiple suppliers, and other Kuiper Engineering teams to ensure internal and external requirements are met for the development and production of Gateway and TT&C terminals. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Key job responsibilities In this role you will: - Own the end-to-end homologation program for Ground System equipment across all target countries - Manage relationships with third-party test laboratories (e.g., TÜV SÜD, UL, Intertek) and coordinate test scheduling, sample logistics, and report reviews - Track and maintain a certification matrix mapping each equipment type to applicable standards (EMC, safety, RF, environmental, RoHS) by country - Identify and escalate gaps in test coverage or standard edition mismatches, and work with engineering to resolve - Maintain a living schedule of homologation milestones aligned to country launch timelines - Provide TPM support to the newly formed Ground Technical Operations team - Relentlessly simplify and demonstrate significant innovation, creativity, and good judgment when solving challenging problems - Drive best practices on the team, deal with ambiguity and competing objectives, and proactively identify and mitigate risks before they become roadblocks - Write effective narratives and present them concisely and effectively to senior management About the team The Ground Systems team is developing globally located high data rate satellite communication terminals which operate off of automated software driven systems and which maintain critical connectivity from the ground to the complete Kuiper constellation. This team is driving the development, deployment and long-term operability of Kuiper ground station terminals.
