Position Summary The Grocery Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operation, and profitability of the Grocery Department. This position ensures exceptional customer service, maintains in-stock conditions, drives sales, controls expenses, and leads a team to execute company standards while creating a clean, safe, and well-merchandised shopping environment. Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales
Deliver outstanding customer service and promote a customer-first culture. Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally. Drive department sales through effective merchandising, promotions, and inventory management. Ensure advertised items, seasonal programs, and company initiatives are executed successfully. Monitor department performance and implement action plans to achieve sales and profitability goals. Department Operations
Direct daily operations of the Grocery Department, including Dry Grocery, General Merchandise, Frozen, and Dairy areas as assigned. Maintain proper inventory levels to support sales and minimize out-of-stocks. Ensure accurate pricing, signing, and shelf conditions throughout the department. Monitor product rotation and code date compliance. Execute merchandising standards, planograms, and promotional displays. Maintain department organization, cleanliness, and food safety standards. Leadership & Team Development
Recruit, train, coach, and develop employees to maximize performance and engagement. Create schedules that support operational needs while managing labor budgets. Provide clear direction, performance feedback, and recognition to team members. Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and respect. Ensure all associates comply with company policies, procedures, and safety requirements. Inventory & Financial Management
Manage inventory levels and ordering processes to support sales and reduce shrink. Review department reports and key performance indicators to identify opportunities. Control expenses including labor, shrink, supplies, and operating costs. Ensure accurate receiving, storage, and inventory practices. Support annual inventory preparation and execution. Safety & Compliance
Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health, and safety regulations. Promote a safe working environment and respond appropriately to workplace incidents. Ensure proper equipment operation and maintenance. Follow all company policies, labor regulations, and operational standards. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous grocery retail experience required. Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to analyze reports and make sound business decisions. Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry products weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and more with assistance when necessary. Ability to work in varying temperature environments, including refrigerated and freezer areas. Ability to move throughout the store and stockroom safely and efficiently. Desired Competencies
