Experienced or Senior Composites Engineer Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Commercial Airplanes Materials & Processes (BCA M&P) is seeking an Experienced or Senior Composites Engineer (Level 3 or 4) to join our 787 Wing & Empennage Engineering Support Team in North Charleston, South Carolina. As an M&P engineer, you will define engineering requirements to develop, select, or recommend parts, materials, processes, manufacturing technologies, machinery, tools, and automation systems used in product design and manufacturing in accordance with contractual and regulatory obligations. Additionally, you will qualify new materials, parts and processes to meet requirements and manage test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements. You will conduct analysis to characterize performance or determine reasons for failure of tools, materials, parts or processes to drive subsequent corrective or preventative actions. M&P engineers are responsible for using project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements while incorporating environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.

Responsibilities: Perform engineering design review Material and part qualification internal to Boeing and at suppliers Provide engineering support to the production system Possess and encourage others to have a mindset of Safety and First Pass Quality Influence others to exhibit Boeing Values and Behaviors This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in North Charleston, South Carolina. This position may require up to 20 - 25% travel, domestically or internationally.
Basic Qualifications
(Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry 5+ years of experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing environment 2+ years of experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications 2+ years of experience working with composites and/or composite manufacturing Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 9 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 3+ years of experience with composite part and/or material qualification 5+ years of experience in a materials and processes engineering environment Experience with aerospace composites technology Experience with large scale composite manufacturing processes Experience working with suppliers associated with an engineering production system Problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills Experience with safety and quality processes Conflict of Interest: Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.
