About this role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and hands-on Mechanical Test Engineer to lead the execution and continuous improvement of testing activities across our data centre cooling product range, including CRAH units, AHUs, CDU systems and Fan Wall products. The successful candidate will take ownership of designing and executing product validation programmes, including pressure measurement, acoustic testing, leak detection, filter leak testing and overall system performance verification. Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will work closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Customers to ensure all testing activities are executed accurately, safely and efficiently. This role requires a practical engineer who can work independently, troubleshoot complex issues and confidently communicate technical results to customers and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
FWT Testing & Validation Develop test procedures for pressure measurement, airflow/water testing, acoustic performance, leak detection and filter leak testing… Design, specify and build test rigs and test setups to support product validation activities using data acquisition systems. Develop and present test script, RAMS, testing methodologies and results to customers. Analyse test results and prepare detailed technical reports. Lead the execution of FWT (Factory Witness Test) testing programs for new and modified products. Ensure testing activities are conducted in accordance with relevant industry standards and company procedures. Troubleshoot product and test-related issues, identifying root causes and driving corrective actions. Collaborate with design teams during product development to ensure validation requirements are incorporated early in the design process. Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and customer witness testing activities. Explain technical findings clearly and professionally to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Support customer discussions relating to performance verification and compliance requirements. Obtain customer approval on test methodologies and validation results. Provide technical support during project reviews and customer visits. Test Facility Improvement Take ownership of the calibration programme for all test equipment, sensors, instrumentation and measurement devices. Maintain calibration records and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements. Identify opportunities to improve measurement accuracy and testing repeatability. Coordinate with external calibration service providers where required. Develop standard operating procedures for test equipment maintenance and verification. Lead initiatives to improve safety, efficiency and repeatability within the test facility. Identify and implement automation solutions to reduce manual intervention in testing activities. Upgrade existing test rigs and facilities to improve functionality and reliability. Drive continuous improvement projects focused on test quality, productivity and safety. Support development of future testing capabilities for new product technologies .
