Field Engineer - Electrical and Instrument

Responsibilities include: Provide day-to-day field engineering support and technical supervision for Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) construction activities. Monitor and verify contractor activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and project requirements. Review and provide technical input on electrical and instrumentation drawings, including single-line diagrams, cable schedules, termination diagrams, instrument hook-ups, loop diagrams, layouts, and installation details. Monitor instrumentation installation, including field instruments, control panels, junction boxes, instrument cabling, tubing, impulse lines, and control systems. Coordinate and monitor cable pulling, glanding, termination, testing, and commissioning activities. Monitor instrument installation and support loop checking, calibration, functional testing, and commissioning. Review contractor method statements, inspection requests, test reports, and quality documentation. Witness and verify electrical and instrumentation inspections and testing in accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). Identify construction issues, design discrepancies, and technical queries and coordinate with the PMC engineering team for resolution. Review RFI/TQ submissions, NCRs, punch lists, and site technical issues and ensure timely close-out. Monitor contractor progress against the approved construction schedule and milestones, identifying potential delays and recommending corrective actions. Coordinate E&I activities with Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Process, Piping, and Commissioning teams to ensure effective multidisciplinary execution. Ensure proper interface management between electrical, instrumentation, control systems, utilities, and other mining infrastructure facilities. Monitor contractor compliance with HSE requirements, including electrical safety, isolation/LOTO, working at height, excavation, lifting, and other site-specific requirements. Participate in site inspections, coordination meetings, progress meetings, construction reviews, and commissioning activities. Verify completed works and support preparation of as-built drawings, handover dossiers, test records, and final documentation. Support the PMC team in monitoring contractor performance, quality, schedule, and technical compliance throughout construction. Provide technical assistance during pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and handover activities. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related discipline. Typically 8–12+ years of relevant experience in Electrical & Instrumentation construction, field engineering, or site supervision. Proven experience working on mining, mineral processing, mining infrastructure, heavy industry, or large industrial projects. Previous experience in a PMC, EPCM, EPC, or Owner's Engineer environment is highly preferred. Strong site experience in the installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems. Experience with MV/LV systems, substations, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, cables, earthing, lighting, and electrical distribution systems.
