Role Under direct supervision, develops and updates detailed engineering design drawings, schematics, specifications, and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs). Works collaboratively with engineers, designers, Eastman personnel, contractors, and international stakeholders to resolve design discrepancies and ensure project deliverables align with safety, quality, budget, and schedule requirements. Adheres to established design standards and contributes to the ongoing development and maintenance of P&ID practices, standards, and procedures. Responsibilities • Collaborate, and lead when necessary, in a team environment with Process Engineering technicians, technologists, engineers, and team members in Hyderabad Engineering Center. • Learn and work with several digital tools such as ProjectWise, SEIGA, SharePoint, AIM, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, etc. • Design, generate, and occasionally draft P&IDs in MicroStation and AutoCAD. • Convert and translate conceptual level PFDs into P&IDs as projects progress in level of engineering detail. • Interpret project team redlines and communicate needed changes to drafting resources via written, verbal and graphic communication. • Assist in the development and maintenance of Corporate P&ID and CADD standards. • Support in the teaching and development of Corporate P&ID classes and training. • Generate improvement ideas and designs; mentor others as needed. • Support and contribute to Worldwide Engineering and Construction and Process Engineering Department initiatives by serving a team advisor, mentoring, and leading. • Candidate must complete all assigned duties in a safe manner.
Qualifications
• Minimum of an Associate's degree in a related discipline with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Significant relevant experience (7+ years) may be considered in lieu of a degree. • Experience in field verifying P&IDs. • Ability to develop and use customized settings in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD. • Understanding of mechanical, piping, and electrical design and basic construction principles. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Interaction with partners in Hyderabad Engineering Center occurs frequently. • Ability to manage multiple projects, including the ability to coordinate multi-person and location/time-zone teams. • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.). • Willingness to travel on occasion (10% or less of job time).
