In this role, the Category Senior Manager will be responsible for leading complex, high-value strategic sourcing initiatives across Commercial and Real-World Evidence (RWE) Data. The role will partner closely with Global Category Leads, Procurement Business Partners, and business stakeholders to translate category and business strategies into effective sourcing, negotiation, contracting, and supplier strategies that deliver measurable value to Amgen. Your mission will extend to fostering collaboration, enabling enterprise-wide initiatives, and championing change to position Global Procurement as a strategic value driver within the organization. Through strong stakeholder engagement, market expertise, and collaborative leadership, this role positions Procurement as a trusted advisor and strategic enabler of business outcomes Roles & Responsibilities: Lead the development and execution of global category strategies and business priorities, in partnership with Category Management and Procurement Business Partners. Develop strong relationships with commercial, finance, and functional leadership to build trust and position procurement as a strategic partner in decision making. Translate business priorities into actionable procurement initiatives that deliver measurable value, including cost optimization, supplier innovation, and risk mitigation. Champion procurement initiatives and ensure adoption of procurement processes, tools, and governance frameworks within the country organization. Connect stakeholder priorities with procurement opportunities, ensuring a holistic view of value creation and risk management Provide supplier market intelligence, benchmarks, commercial insights, and demand trends to inform sourcing decisions and support category strategy development Identify and execute opportunities to leverage Amgen’s scale, consolidate demand, optimize supplier models, and improve commercial terms across markets and business units. Partner with business stakeholders to manage strategic supplier commercial performance, including pricing, contractual commitments, KPIs/SLAs, renewals, and continuous improvement opportunities Provide subject matter expertise to procurement peers and stakeholders, including coaching on negotiation strategy, supplier evaluation, commercial structures, and sourcing approaches. Functional Skills: Must-Have Skills: A minimum of 12-13 years’ experience in leading small team, or individual contributor with extensive knowledge of shaping strategies to successful execution Strong strategic sourcing and procurement experience within a complex global organization, preferably in Biotech or Pharma. Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with senior business stakeholders and influence decision making through excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Experience managing sourcing initiatives (complex, cross functional initiatives) from strategy development through execution and value realization. Ability to translate business priorities and category strategies into executable sourcing and negotiation strategies. Ability to navigate and influence within matrixed organizations across functions, regions, and leadership levels. Strong analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and insights and drive supplier-enabled innovations to inform procurement decisions.
