Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary electrical engineering and hardware design team, with the primary objective of creating firmware solutions for new design hardware and new design controls architectures. Architect and implement controls solutions with requirements and algorithms defined by subject matter experts (SMEs) in a laboratory environment. Simulate, implement, test, and troubleshoot firmware updates, support design reviews, and perform as an integrator of the firmware on controls systems. Work in the product development team environment with systems, mechanical, and software engineers. Architect solutions for new business pursuits or new design systems is required. This position may require occasional business-related travel.

You Must Have Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience. Experience with hardware development and/or integration and a minimum of 6 yrs of experience in FPGA Logic design and verification. Experience in testing products using FPGA debugging tools (such as Xilinx/AMD Vivado). Experience with interfaces and bus standards such as:  PCIe &10/100 Gb Ethernet/Multi-gigabit serial standards (e.g. Aurora, RoCE, RIO). Experience designing with Xilinx and/or Altera FPGA/SoCs. Zynq, Kintex/Virtex Ultrascale and newer. Experience with architect control systems including: Translation of system level requirements into a hardware baseline. Collaborate with technical subject matter experts to establish new architectures. Implement algorithm description documents (ADDs) within the hardware. Generate block diagrams and state machines of control systems. Experience hardware integration Early design phases with development FPGA boards. Transition from development hardware to tactical hardware. Collaborating with hardware and software teams in a lab and/or scrum environment.

We Prefer MATLAB and Simulink w/ HDL Coder. Experience in low volume, high complexity development environments. Experience designing FPGAs, SoC’s and real-time microcontrollers. Multi-Gigabit transceivers, DDR and flash memories. Experience with GigE Vision/ HD-SDI, CoaXpress, Aurora, and/or CameraLink. Background in Sensor and Read Out IC. Experience working on Agile Teams using JIRA. Knowledge of control systems such as: PID controllers. PWM drive loops. Applied non-linear controls.
