The Role
As a Planning Consultant, you will deliver a world-class planning experience by helping clients achieve their financial goals through personalized guidance and comprehensive planning conversations. You will uncover opportunities to deepen client relationships through asset consolidation, referrals, and plan implementation while educating clients on solutions that support their long-term success. The role requires developing and executing a strategic client engagement approach, using tools such as Salesforce and partnering across the business to ensure effective relationship management and follow-through. Guided by Fidelity’s client commitment standards and a strong sense of integrity, you will build trust, inspire client loyalty, and foster lasting relationships. In addition, you will support team success by mentoring peers, sharing best practices, and contributing to a collaborative culture focused on continuous growth and exceptional client outcomes. The Expertise and Skills You Bring FINRA Series 7 & 63 licensed required FINRA Series 65 or 66 licenses or ability to acquire series 65/66 upon hire Appropriate state registrations required Financial services experience preferably in financial planning A bachelor’s degree and/or professional certifications such as the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation are preferred Thorough understanding of financial planning concepts to help clients build effective financial plans for them and their families Ability to profile to understand planning needs and identify appropriate solutions A vested curiosity about building relationships and being an advocate for clients Motivated toward success, willing to demonstrate ownership, and committed to achieving meaningful goals Demonstrated ability and confidence in conducting outbound client outreach calls to educate clients, strengthen relationships, identify needs, and uncover opportunities to deliver additional value The Team The Planning Consultant Team partners closely with Financial Consultants and Wealth Planners to deliver comprehensive financial planning support. Leveraging deep planning expertise and a relationship-focused approach, the team effectively profiles client needs, navigates planning conversations, and presents insights generated through our guidance tools. Through these interactions, the team facilitates meaningful discussions around key planning concepts and identifies additional opportunities to enhance clients’ financial strategies. Working collaboratively with advisors, the Planning Consultant Team helps develop and implement tailored planning solutions that address clients’ evolving needs. This partnership strengthens client relationships, drives business impact, and delivers a rewarding experience through meaningful client engagement every day. Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
