About this role
Job Description
This role owns the test strategy, end-to-end validation and release readiness of OpenLab-based analytical instrument and laboratory automation workflows. It covers OpenLab CDS, GC, LC, GC/MS, LC/MS, spectroscopy products and connected automation devices such as microplate readers, Bravo, centrifuges and cell-analysis instruments. Beyond validation execution, the role strengthens support readiness by helping internal engineers, application teams, field support and automation integrators isolate issues, validate configurations, document troubleshooting guidance, and translate field learnings into product-quality improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Define risk-based test strategy, validation scope, quality plans, coverage models, and release readiness criteria for OpenLab-based instrument and automation workflows. Validate end-to-end workflows across analytical instruments and connected automation devices, from sample scheduling through acquisition, processing, reporting and integration. Build reusable regression assets, API test coverage, workflow simulations and automation test approaches for instrument control and connected-lab scenarios. Lead defect triage, root cause analysis, retesting, closure tracking, escalation preparation and release-risk communication across R&D, Product Management, Quality and automation partners. Report quality metrics, validation coverage, automation coverage, defect trends, customer pilot findings, unresolved risks, and release readiness to project teams and leadership. Provide PSE-oriented technical enablement for field support and automation integration teams by reproducing issues, collecting diagnostic evidence, assessing configuration versus product defects and documenting support-ready guidance. Convert validation findings, customer pilot feedback and support escalations into prioritized product improvement inputs and support-readiness actions. Support customer pilots, automation demo lab testing and field deployments by confirming real-world workflow readiness and transferring practical deployment knowledge to internal teams.
Qualifications
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or above in chemistry, analytical science, life science or a related technical discipline. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in software testing, validation, analytical instrumentation software, laboratory automation, or scientific workflow solutions. Strong capability in test planning, execution, evidence capture, defect qualification, and release-readiness assessment for software-enabled analytical workflows. Working knowledge of chromatography, mass spectrometry, spectroscopy, sample scheduling, data acquisition, data analysis, reporting, and laboratory system integration. Understanding of connected laboratory automation concepts, including workflow orchestration, device interaction, configuration validation and end-to-end scenario testing. Solid understanding of software quality practices, defect lifecycle, traceability, validation evidence, release governance and PLC processes. Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, SparkFlow, or equivalent systems. Ability to provide practical guidance to internal engineering, support and field teams, including issue isolation, configuration assessment and solution recommendations. Strong collaboration skills and fluent English communication, with the ability to write clear technical documentation and engage global stakeholders effectively.
Preferred Experience
Hands-on experience with OpenLab CDS, OpenLab Server/ECM XT, Sample Scheduler, or adjacent laboratory informatics platforms. Exposure to complex multi-technique or multi-device environments involving GC, LC, GC/MS, LC/MS, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, microplate readers, Bravo, centrifuges, liquid handling, or cell-analysis systems. Experience with client/server architecture, instrument drivers, licensing, compatibility testing, upgrade testing, installation validation, or
