About the internship This is a 10-week experience, designed to fully immerse interns in the buy-side investment management industry by working alongside one of HIMCO’s Investment teams as a Summer Analyst. These assignments can include positions within different investment areas, including: credit research, private markets, structured credit, quantitative equity, portfolio management, client management and macroeconomic strategy. Interns are offered extensive development opportunities through a mentoring program, a mock-trading competition, an executive speaker series, volunteering, and social events. Intern contributions during his/her internship will culminate in a capstone presentation to provide an opportunity for exposure to HIMCO senior leaders. Successful summer interns may be invited back for a full-time Assistant Investment Analyst position. About the Firm: Hartford Investment Management Company (HIMCO) is the asset management arm of The Hartford Insurance Group, Inc. HIMCO is an insurance asset manager with approximately $120 billion in assets under management across the public fixed income, equity, and private markets (as of June 30, 2026) . The firm manages assets on behalf of The Hartford, as well as insurance, sub-advisory and other institutional clients. What are we looking for? Our summer internship program is open to candidates currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028. While there are no requirements for a specific discipline or major, our team is looking for well-rounded candidates whose academic and technical accomplishments are complemented by demonstrated leadership, meaningful extracurricular involvement, personal passions, and a strong fit with our team and culture. Candidate qualities we look for include: Deep interest and basic knowledge of financial markets Some related course work (e.g. finance, economics, mathematics, computer science, engineering etc.) and/or student investment or finance club experience Strong drive, attention to detail, and a self-starter with a high degree of intellectual curiosity Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including use of technology Familiarity with AI-powered tools and technologies, with an ability to apply them thoughtfully and responsibly to research, analysis, and workflow optimization Excellent time management, organizational and communications skills Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, PowerPoint, & Word) is required. Familiarity with coding languages such as Excel VBA, R, Stata, Python or MATLAB, etc. are considered a plus As a condition of your employment for HIMCO, you will be required to affirm to HIMCO’s Code of Ethics and understand that you will be required to comply with the disclosure of accounts, holdings, and pre-clearance of trades for the accounts of you and your household family members as more fully described in the Code of Ethics Key Points. Compensation
