STAFF SOFTWARE POWER AND PERFORMANCE APPS ENGINEER THE ROLE: AMD is looking for an experienced Power and Performance Apps Engineer to support AMD Embedded and x86 customers across platform power optimization, performance analysis, workload characterization, thermal management, customer issue triage, technical escalation, system tuning, and production readiness. This role serves as the technical bridge between customers, FAEs, Product Management, Program Management, Silicon Engineering, Power & Performance Engineering, Firmware Engineering, BIOS Engineering, Platform Engineering, Validation, QA, and Customer Support teams. The Apps Engineer will own customer-facing engagements involving platform performance, power consumption, workload optimization, thermal behavior, benchmark analysis, platform tuning, and customer performance validation. The role requires strong technical expertise in system performance analysis combined with customer-first communication, structured problem solving, and disciplined engineering execution. The successful candidate will help customers maximize performance-per-watt, optimize platform configurations, and accelerate deployment of AMD Embedded x86 solutions across a wide range of workloads and deployment environments. THE PERSON: The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical engineer with strong performance analysis expertise, platform-level debug experience, and proven experience supporting customer deployments and technical escalations. This person is comfortable operating in complex customer environments, translating performance observations into actionable engineering investigations, and driving technical closure across globally distributed teams. Strong customer-facing presence with clear, structured, and professional communication. Deep technical curiosity and ownership mindset for customer issue resolution. Strong analytical skills with a passion for performance optimization. Ability to engage across silicon, firmware, BIOS, operating system, platform, validation, and workload domains. Comfortable working with FAEs, customer engineers, product architects, and engineering specialists. Able to prioritize customer escalations while maintaining disciplined technical triage and execution rigor. Strong data-driven decision-making and problem-solving skills. Comfortable working in lab environments performing system characterization and benchmarking. A self-starter with the ability to independently analyze complex platform performance issues while collaborating effectively across engineering organizations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Technical Ownership Act as the primary technical interface for customer issues involving platform performance, power efficiency, workload optimization, and thermal behavior. Own customer performance investigations from initial engagement through root cause analysis, optimization, engineering escalation, validation, and closure. Provide technical guidance and tuning recommendations to customers and FAEs.
