Job Description
The purpose of this position is to troubleshoot, repair, and fabricate production machines using a variety of tools including machine tools RESPONSIBILITIES Follows blueprints, drawings schematics and verbal instructions to plan and layout assignments. Assembles and installs mechanical and electrical equipment and systems such as production machinery/tools, storage racks and tanks, facility equipment, etc. Repairs, rebuilds, wires, troubleshoots and maintains machines and equipment, using equipment available in the Maintenance Department. Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical and electrical equipment and systems requiring the isolation of the malfunction, disassembly of equipment and repair/replacement of bearings, gears, structural components and the like as well as electronic sensors and controls. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and mechanical systems. Performs general plant maintenance jobs on plumbing, lighting, machine wiring etc. Responsible for maintenance shop including tools and supply inventories. Initiates/prepares purchase orders for inventory/non-stock items for approval. Corrects safety inspector's recommendations to conform to OSHA requirements. Works with supervisors and employees to detect and report any improper operation, faulty equipment or unusual conditions that may affect safety or manufacturing. Initiates and reviews bids for necessary contractual work. Oversees vendors to assure work is completed in a timely manner and is correct. Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision. Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition. Apply the ITW Principles 80/20 and USa to eliminate complexity and improve profitability of the company. Other duties as assigned.
POSITION
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Education: Associates degree in Engineering or equivalent. Experience/Skills: Three to five years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Safety training and experience ideal. Ability to communicate effectively in both a written and oral format with MS Office and presentation software expertise. OTHER REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will constantly (67% - 100%) be required to twist/turn, stand, walk, and grasp, and frequently (34% - 66%) be required to bend/squat, crawl, handle and manipulate small items. They will occasionally (1% - 33%) be required to climb, reach above shoulder, reach outward, sit, and type. Specific vision abilities required by this job include concentrated attention, close vision, far vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to bring object into sharp focus. Manual dexterity; arm-hand steadiness; ability to quickly make precise adjustments in moving the controls of a machine; finger dexterity; multi-limb coordination; flexibility; quick reaction time.
