Journeyman Machinist, Maintenance The opportunity: Smurfit Westrock Covington Mill is seeking a Maintenance Journeyman Machinist at Covington, VA. This position supports the maintenance and repair of machines and equipment throughout the mill. Assist other crafts and maintenance personnel in the performance of work outside of machinist duties and responsibilities as assigned. Successful applicants will be required to complete training and certification in a second craft. Job Duties: Participate in all department safety programs. Flexibility to work in a multi-craft role and contribute to accomplishing results in a team-based environment. Good understanding of the types and application of equipment lubrication. Effective troubleshooting abilities. Ability to read and understand blueprints/drawings and manufacture parts from these drawings. Ability to produce drawings from removed parts. Ability to use measuring instruments for machining parts, ie. Micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc. Good working knowledge of rigging techniques for material movement. Ability to use manual lathes and milling machines to fabricate parts. Ability to machine test parts on a lathe and milling machine.
