Work You’ll Do As a Managed Services Engineer II on the Human Services Transformation team, you will be responsible for… Administer and maintain PostgreSQL database environments supporting application and operational needs Analyze and optimize database performance, including query tuning, table tuning, and configuration updates Support database operations for development teams, including deployments, schema changes, troubleshooting, and issue resolution Manage and monitor Microsoft Azure database platforms, including Azure Cosmos DB, to support availability and performance objectives Perform database maintenance activities such as backup, recovery, patching, capacity planning, and performance monitoring A successful candidate would possess these skills: Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team Effective written and verbal communication skills Meticulous attention to detail and quality of work product Ability to build and sustain professional relationships Ability to lead projects or workstreams Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor Ability to meet deadlines Ability to provide clear guidance to others The Team Deloitte’s Government & Public Services (GPS) practice – our people, ideas, technology and outcomes – is designed for impact. Required: Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of experience administering PostgreSQL databases in production environments 3+ years of experience with database performance optimization, query tuning, and table tuning 2+ years of experience administering Microsoft Azure databases, including Azure Cosmos DB 2+ years of experience supporting application development teams with database operations, deployments, and schema changes 2+ years of experience performing database backup, recovery, monitoring, and maintenance activities Ability to travel 0-25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve. Preferred: Experience with database automation using Structured Query Language (SQL), shell scripting, or Python Experience with production database incident support, root cause analysis, and issue remediation Experience with database monitoring and diagnostic tools Experience supporting cloud-based database
