Senior Regulatory Specialist I – Toxicology, Global Regulatory Affairs (GBS) Location: Pune, India Function: Global Business Solutions (GBS) Department: Global Regulatory Affairs – Global Toxicology Team Reports To: Global Toxicology Team Lead, Global Regulatory Affairs Job Overview Join Ecolab as a Regulatory Specialist II / Senior Regulatory Specialist I – Toxicology within the Global Regulatory Affairs GBS organization. This role is part of Ecolab's Global Toxicology Team and will provide toxicological and regulatory support for Ecolab's chemical ingredient and product portfolio, with a focus on the IMEA and AP regions. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing environmental/aquatic toxicity testing, conducting ecological hazard assessments, supporting ingredient and product hazard classification activities, responding to business requests related to chemical safety and product stewardship, and supporting food contact and chemical compliance programs. This position requires strong scientific understanding of toxicology, ecotoxicology, environmental fate, chemical risk assessment, and regulatory science. The role works closely with the Global Toxicology team, IMEA and AP regulatory teams, product stewardship, R&D, quality, and business stakeholders across multiple regions. This position is based within Ecolab's Global Business Services (GBS) organization located in Pune, India. Strong written and verbal English communication skills are required.
What You Will Do
Environmental and Ecological Risk Assessment Manage environmental toxicity testing programs with external contract research organizations (CROs) and testing laboratories. Review and interpret ecotoxicology study reports and environmental hazard data. Conduct ecological hazard assessments for chemical substances, mixtures, and finished products. Evaluate environmental endpoints including aquatic toxicity, biodegradation, bioaccumulation, persistence, and environmental fate. Support derivation and application of environmental hazard classifications under GHS, CLP, and other global regulatory frameworks. Chemical and Product Safety Assign and maintain hazardous ingredient classifications using regulatory and scientific data. Support product hazard classification activities for global markets (with a focus on IMEA and AP requests). Provide technical toxicology and ecotoxicology support for product development, product lifecycle management, and regulatory compliance. Respond to internal business inquiries regarding ingredient safety, product stewardship, toxicology, and environmental health impacts. Support preparation of customer-facing safety and regulatory documentation. Toxicology Stewardship and Scientific Support Monitor emerging scientific and regulatory developments impacting Ecolab's product portfolio. Assist in the development of risk assessments, technical evaluations, regulatory position papers, and scientific summaries. Contribute to continuous improvement of toxicology data management, hazard assessment processes, and regulatory compliance programs. Collaborate effectively with global stakeholders across multiple business units and geographies.
Minimum Qualifications
Regulatory Specialist II / Senior Regulatory Specialist I Master's or PhD degree in Toxicology, Ecotoxicology, Environmental Science, Environmental Toxicology, Chemistry, Biology, Public Health, Risk Assessment, or related life science discipline 5+ years of applied relevant experience in the chemical, food, or cosmetics industries. Ability to critically review scientific literature and technical reports. Ingredient and product hazard assessment and hazard communication experience under GHS and CLP. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities in a team environment. Strong written and verbal English communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
